What is Scientific Notation?
Scientific notation expresses numbers as a × 10ⁿ where 1 ≤ |a| < 10. It's used in science to write very large or very small numbers compactly. For example, the speed of light is 3 × 10⁸ m/s, and an electron's mass is 9.11 × 10⁻³¹ kg.
How to Convert to Scientific Notation
Move the decimal point until only one non-zero digit is to the left of it. Count the moves — right moves give a negative exponent, left moves give a positive exponent.
